PerMedCoE participates in PATC training

PerMedCoE participated in the PATC-CompBioMed short course on HPC-based Computational Bio-Medicine, which was held online on 19 February 2021.

Alfonso Valencia, ICREA Research Professor, BSC Life Sciences Department Director and PerMedCoE Coordinator, and Arnau Montagud, Established Researcher at the BSC Computational Biology Life Sciences Group, contributed to the ‘Visualization and Life Sciences’ session with the presentation ‘Personalised Medicine Centre of Excellence: how can HPC cell-level simulations help us fight against cancer and COVID’.

Alfonso gave an overview of PerMedCoE’s vision, objectives and challenges, and explained the technological advances that have made possible to develop simulations at the cellular level, which is the main purpose of the project.

Arnau discussed the possibilities of the PerMedCoE core applications and how they are going to be used in the project to personalise patient-specific models. He also gave a brief presentation of the work on COVID-19 carried out in the project so far.
